PAN-London
The Play Association Network (PAN-London) is a network of the play associations and play support agencies across London.
Through a thriving email group, quarterly meetings and an annual away day - all co-ordinated by London Play - the network shares information and experience, and develops ideas on how to promote children's play in London strategically.
Each play association and play support agency is independent and responds to local needs. However, many of their functions and challenges are similar and therefore the network provides a vital network to meet those challenges and identify opportunities.
The network also enables the organisations to create London-wide campaigns and consider joint initiatives, such as regional conferences, training, and funding applications.
PAN and London Play
London Play is independent of the local play organisations, but the network is vital in informing London Play's work by sharing what is happening 'on the ground' around London.
The network provides an added impetus to London Play's development work, particularly the Partners for Play project, in identifying areas where the play sector needs support, and where in London there is the greatest need for improved play opportunities.
The network is highly effective in providing support for new and emerging play associations, the creation of which London Play is committed to facilitating. The network helps prevent the smaller play associations and networks and those in the outer London boroughs from feeling isolated.
The network also provides an essential forum to discuss current, wider issues affecting play, such as Asbos, the Olympics and the Every Child Matters agenda - issues which London Play campaigns to highlight.
