NUT Conference (Feb 2007) on Children's Play in Schools

21 February 2007

A London Play briefing prepared for teachers at a National Union of Teachers (NUT) conference to launch their own Play Strategy.

Most children first starting at school develop their peer and friendship group through school friends - friends play together. Play before and after school, as well as in the school breaks should be a focus for local play strategies, as should links to promote play through the Safe Routes to School initiative to enable "play on the way" and the Healthy Schools initiative to promote physical activity through play as well as sports and PE.
