Aiming high for youth work

21 July 2008

This new briefing discusses the links and crossover between play and youth work, and has an edited version of the briefing prepared for the Children's Services Network on the government's Aiming High Implementation Plan.

London Play sees the need for joined up thinking between the services offered to children and young people. The days of teenagers sitting on the little children's swings in the park because they have nowhere else to go should now be gone.

In particular London Play would like to see more dedicated public teenagers play areas, see page 5 of our Winter 2006 Newsletter for an article about the teenagers play area at Parsloes Park in Barking and Dagenham: link

Mile End Park in Tower Hamlets now also boasts an excellent teenagers fixed play equipment area.
